In The Dark

Today is the fourth day without power, though Louisville Gas and Electric did tease me on Monday by turning on the lights for a couple of hours. On Monday, the city had almost 400,000 homes without power and today it's down to about 160,000 or so. Utility crews from North Carolina, Indiana and Nashville have joined local utilities, putting over 1100 crews out on the streets. Over 600 telephone poles were snapped, 6,000 cables torn and tens of thousands of trees blown over. Everywhere you look you see destruction, something I've never seen before. I'm hopeful that the power might come back on today but until that happens, my only way to update this blog and check in on the world at large is to visit a coffee shop and grab a bit of free internet.
