I'm really looking forward to seeing this new film by Kimberly Reed. An unflinching look at her life as the star quarterback of her high school football team and the emotional turmoil of being born the wrong way. The documentary also focuses on the lives of her two brothers, one adopted and the other not. The adopted brother was involved in a car wreck at age 21 and had to have part of his brain surgically removed. He also turns out to have quite the famous birth parents. Her other brother recently came out as a gay man and this all plays out against the backdrop of Reed's 20th high school reunion. Coming home to Montana, Reed finds that her old classmates are just fine with her new gender. Here is a short video from Reed that is playing on CNN...
I think what excites me most about this is that one of our own is telling this story. I suspect there won't be the crazy shots of putting on makeup and walking around in high heels. Thank God. On a side note, I sure to wish I looked as good as she does. I don't know what else to do but no matter how hard I try, I just can't pull this off. Ugh.
