Real Women

I've never understood why some women want to go for the emaciated look so popular in fashion magazines and on TV. There are few things less attractive than a size 0 woman and when I pass one on the street or in a store, I just want to kidnap them and take them to an all you can eat buffet. Since I began transition seven years ago, I've never been one to go all in on fashion and such. The only "womens" magazine I read is Glamour as it has a real female empowerment message and for the most part, stays away from the crap that is peddled in other magazines of the same genre.

Lizzie Miller looking ravishing in the pages of Glamour

Validating my belief in Glamour is an amazing picture that can be found on page 194 of the September issue. That it has become one of the more talked about magazine spreads in recent memory shows how far we have to go when it comes to affirming the inherent beauty in all women, not just the pencil thin models so routinely featured in magazine spreads. Her name is LIzzie Miller and she is without a doubt one of the more beautiful women that I have ever seen. She is real and judging from the smile on her face, she couldn't be more pleased with the way she looks. Good for Glamour and most of all, good for Lizzie.

On the Today Show and sorry to say Matt Lauer, she's not "plus size", she's just healthy.

In my attempt to gain weight through my adult life, i have eaten up to five times a day, and taken in up to 35,000 calories a week before.

Nothing. No feminine curves for me.

You know what's worse than looking like a skeletal ten year old boy?

Looking like that as a transsexual woman, and having other women trash talk me for it, as if it's my choice.

Some of us don't have any.

And thanks to how the media pimps that look out, overweight women and underweight women like me both suffer.

My brother is like you, he can eat and eat and eat and eat and nothing. Me, I eat a salad and gain 5 pounds. I guess my point is that I hate that so many women feel that if they aren't a size 0 than they aren't attractive. To me, this woman is simply stunning.

It's a sad thing to consider that woman a 'plus' size, but in the fashion industry it's their standard.

For many years I struggled to put on weight, and although I technically went through puberty at the right time as a girl, I still looked like a boy. But as I got into my mid 30s, I 'developed' again and filled out. I have all the curves and boobs the girls I went to high school had. Now they're all obese (and I mean, OBESE) and I'm finally sittin' at the 'normal' range. Yay, me. I will never feel like I need to lose weight to look like these emaciated women celebrities. Even the ones like Drew Barrymore or Kim Kardashian who are alleged to have curves really don't. They seem to be losing weight, too. It's sad to see them give into the whole debacle. I've never conformed, so I don't pay much attention.
